NACOGDOCHES, Texas - The Stephen F. Austin Lumberjacks climbed one spot in the FCS Coaches' Top 25 poll following their impressive 71-3 victory over Lamar Saturday at Homer Bryce Stadium. The Lumberjacks are now ranked sixth in both the FCS Coaches and the Sports Network polls.
The Lumberjacks recorded their third consecutive win of the season with their overwhelming 68-point victory over Lamar. Senior quarterback Jeremy Moses reached a couple more career milestones Saturday. With his second completion of the game Moses passed the 10,000-yard mark for career total offense. With his fourth and final touchdown pass of the night, Moses became the Southland Conference all-time leading passer. He currently has 10,596 yards passing.
The SFA defense has also turned up the intensity over the course of the past two games. The 'Jacks have surrendered only three points in the last six quarters.
SFA enters its off week with a 3-1 record, and will spend the extra time preparing for its Southland Conference opener against McNeese State. The Cowboys had been ranked in the previous polls, but dropped out of the top 25 in Monday's latest poll. The game against the Cowboys is slated to begin at 7 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 9.
