NACOGDOCHES, Texas - Nathan Schneider and Haley Blount have been hired as Academic Student Services assistants announced SFA Assistant Athletics Director for Student Services Amber Burdge Friday afternoon. Schneider will work directly with the Lumberjack football team, while Blount will focus on Ladyjack soccer, softball, bowling, men's and women's cross country and Lumberjack baseball.
"I'm excited about the additions of Haley and Nathan to our academic staff," said Burdge. "Their experience will allow us to implement new ideas that will allow us to enhance student services."
A 2007 graduate of LSU, Schneider has spent the past year working in the Student-Athlete Academic Center of his alma mater. During that time, Schneider was directly involved with the LSU football team coordinating class check schedules, and supervising the team's study hall. He also assisted the coaching staff with on-campus recruiting.
Schneider received his masters' degree in kinesiology from LSU in May 2009. He is currently pursuing a masters degree in public administration.
Blount makes the transition to academics after spending the past three seasons as an assistant track and field coach, and head cross country coach at Northwestern State. During her time in Natchitoches, Blount created workout regimens for both the NSU distance runners and pole vaulters.
In May 2007, Blount served as the assistant producer for the AT&T U.S. Outdoor Track and Field Championships. The following year she was invited back to serve a similar capacity for the 2008 U.S.A. Track and Field Championships.
