NACOGDOCHES, Texas - The Stephen F. Austin Lumberjacks' second-round playoff game at top-seeded Montana will be televised on MYTX 18 (local cable channel 8/Lufkin cable channel 6) announced station officials Tuesday afternoon.
The game, which is slated for a noon kickoff (1 p.m. Nacogdoches time) from Washington-Grizzly Stadium, will pit the Southland Conference Champions against the winners of the Big Sky Conference. The Lumberjacks enter the game with a 10-2 overall record and are ranked 12th in the nation, while Montana (12-0) is the top-seeded team in the bracket.
SFA advanced to the second round by way of a 44-33 victory over No. 13 Eastern Washington in Nacogdoches this past Saturday, while the Grizzlies defeated South Dakota State, 61-48 in Missoula. The Griz outscored the SDSU, 40-0 in the final 20:25 of the game to record the victory.
Saturday's contest will be the third time this season that an SFA game has been televised. The Lumberjacks knocked off top-10 opponents in consecutive weeks on the Southland Television Network when they defeated McNeese State and Central Arkansas earlier this season.
MYTX 18 serves the Tyler-Longview-Lufkin-Nacogdoches Designated Market Area (DMA), and is affiliated with local CBS affiliate KYTX (Ch. 19).
