
SFA Adds Fifth Individual Title on Final Day

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - Freshman Nick McCloud recorded SFA's fifth individual title of the Razorback Invitational Saturday afternoon by clocking a time of 8.02 to with the men's 60-meter hurdles. Junior Keith Mahipala just missed SFA's sixth title by finishing second overall in the men's 3,000 meters. Mahipala recorded a time of 8:33.55.
The Lumberjacks placed two athletes in the top five of the heptathlon. Junior Chris Jones recorded a third-place finish with his score of 5,000 points, while sophomore Andrew Plentl was fifth (4,780 points).
The Ladyjacks received a boost from a youthful duo in the 800 meters. Freshman Lauren Watts was only 1.84 seconds off the winning time finishing third overall with a time of 2:19.47. Classmate Danielle Burchett was less than a second off Watts' pace, finishing fifth overall with a time of 2:20.34.
The Ladyjacks also placed two athletes in the top five of the women's shot put. Junior Kaitlyn Andrews finished second in the event with a throw of 14.08 meters, while classmate Frednisha Marshall finished fourth overall with a throw of 13.23 meters.
Junior Silent-Joy Egboba-Waye advanced to the finals of the women's 60-meter hurdles where she recorded a sixth-place finish. Egboba-Waye crossed the finish line with a time of 8.65.
In the championship division of the women's 3,000 meters, SFA placed two athletes in the field's top five. Freshman Stephanie Ganter finished fourth overall with a time of 10:04.50, while classmate Brittainy Robertson was fifth (10:08.66).
Sophomore Marie Flores posted a time of 11:01.71 to finish ninth overall in the women's 3,000 meters. Senior Brian Wall recorded a top-10 finish in the men's 800 meters. Wall crossed the finish line with a time of 1:55.30 to finish seventh overall. Junior Josh Cruse posted a mark of 14.95 meters to finish 10th overall in his first competition of the season.
SFA returns to action Friday when they compete in the Houston Invite and Multis. The two-day event will take place at the Bill Yeoman Fieldhouse on the University of Houston campus.
