SFA Harriers Compete at Mt. SAC & Oklahoma

WALNUT, Calif. - The Stephen F. Austin men and women's distances squads sent athletes to Walnut, Calif., and Norman, Okla., Friday to continue the 2007 outdoor season. Sophomore Keith Mahipala was a bright spot for SFA Friday finishing third in the men's steeplechase with a time of 9:07.52. Mahipala just missed the NCAA regional qualifying time by .52 hundredths of a second, and was only five second off the school record.
Senior LaKoa McKeever competed in the 1,500 meters at the John Jacobs Distance Carnival hosted by Oklahoma. McKeever recorded a time of 4:47.15 to finish 16th overall.
Senior Katrina Nicholas competed in the steeplechase and finished seventh overall with a time of 11:09.23 in the event.
Junior Cole Hollingsworth also competed at the John Jacobs Distance Carnival Friday. Hollingsworth finished second in the men's 1,500-meter run clocking a time of 4:03.00.
SFA will return to action Saturday as it concludes competition at the Mt. SAC Relays and the John Jacobs Distance Carnival. SFA will also send athletes to Natchitoches, La., to compete in the Northwestern State Invitational.
