
SFA Football Prepares for Second Scrimmage

NACOGDOCHES - The Stephen F. Austin Lumberjack football team returns to the field Friday evening for their second scrimmage of spring practice. The Lumberjacks will suit up and take to the gridiron for a 7 p.m. scrimmage at Homer Bryce Stadium. The scrimmage will be a normal game scenario with four 15-minute quarters.
The 'Jacks will be divided into the purple and white team, with the first-team players wearing the white uniforms. All the rest of the players will be wearing purple. The purple team will be spotted a 21-0 lead to start the game.
Offensive coordinator Gerald Broussard will serve as the head coach for the purple squad, while Matt Graves will be the defensive coordinator. The rest of the coaching staff for the purple team will consist of quarterbacks coach Todd Schonhar, B.J. McNutt, Eric Robinson and Tad Scott. Redshirt freshman Terrance Nurse will serve as the team captain for the purple.
Darren Drago will be the head coach of the white squad, with Chris Truax serving as the offensive coordinator. Receivers coach Arlington Nunn will serve as the assistant head coach for the White squad. The rest of the coaching staff for the white team will be first-year assistant Brandon North, Aaron De LaTorre and Todd Pennington. Returning first-team All-Southland Conference quarterback Danny Southall will serve as the captain for the white team.
Junior Ryan Gooch will handle all the punting responsibilities, while sophomore Cory Long will be the kicker.
The scrimmage will get underway at 7 p.m. It is free and open to the public.
