LYNCHBURG, Va. - The Stephen F. Austin Lumberjack track and field team was one of several schools that got an early jump to the 2008 season by sending its heptathletes to the Liberty Kickoff Classic this past weekend in Lynchburg, Va.
Junior Aaron Harlan won the event and set a new school record with his score of 5,246 points. Harlan just missed an NCAA qualifying score in the event by 54 points.
Senior Chad Andrews also competed at the Liberty Kickoff Classic and posted some pretty solid scores before withdrawing in the final event. Andrews was able to post personal bests in four events over the weekend.
SFA will return to action following the Christmas Holiday when they travel to Houston, Texas Friday, Jan. 18 to compete in the Leonard Hilton Invitational. The meet will take place on the University of Houston campus.
