
SFA to Host SLC Championships

NACOGDOCHES - After knocking off Sam Houston State in impressive fashion to wrap up the 2006 Southland Conference regular-season title Friday night, the Ladyjacks enter the O'Reilly Auto Parts Southland Conference Championships as the No. 1 seed. The Ladyjacks (20-7/14-2) enter the tournament having won five consecutive games and 10 of their last 11. SFA will host Lamar who enters the Southland Conference Championships as the league's eighth-seeded team. The Lady Cardinals enter the tournament with an 11-15 (.423) overall record and a 7-9 (.438) league mark. Lamar enters the game having won four of its final six games. If the Ladyjacks defeat Lamar, SFA will host the lowest remaining seed Wednesday in the in the tournament semifinals. The semifinal game will tip off at 7 p.m. from the William R. Johnson Coliseum. The SLC Championship game will be Saturday at 3 p.m., and will be televised by Fox SportsNet.
The Ides of March: The Ladyjacks enter the 2006 Southland Conference Championships looking to win their 15th SLC tournament title and make their 18th appearance in the NCAA Championships.
Been There, Done That: The 2006 Southland Conference Championship tournament marks the 19th consecutive trip to the conference playoffs for SFA. In fact, SFA has advanced to the league tournament every year since joining the league.
SFA vs. No. 8 Lady Cardinals: The Ladyjacks are 38-2 (.950) all-time against Lamar. SFA has now won the last 13 meetings between the two schools, including a season sweep this year. The Ladyjacks have never met Lamar in the SLC Championships.
SFA in Opening-Round Games: The Ladyjacks are 15-3 (.833) all-time in opening round games of the Southland Conference Championships.
