
SFA Track & Field Heads to Houston

The Stephen F. Austin men's and women's track and field team will be in Houston, Texas Saturday to compete in the Hyatt Regency Invitational. The meet is slated to begin at 9 a.m., with the men and women's weight throw. The track events will get under way at 11 a.m., with the women's 3,000-meter run. The meet will take place at the Bill Yeoman Field House on the University of Houston campus. It will be the track and field team's final meet before they compete in the Southland Conference Indoor Championships.
Leading the Way: Junior Julian Acuna is currently tops in the Southland Conference in the 5,000 meters with a time of 15:21.43, just ahead of teammate Marc Farris (15:30.89). Senior DeVaughn Rettig is currently tops in the triple jump with a mark of 47-11.25. Sophomore Ashley Monteau has recorded the league's best 5,000 meter time on the women's side (18:12.14). Senior Teresa Murray is currently tied for top spot in the high jump with her NCAA provisional qualifying mark of 5-10.50.
Up Next ... SFA will be back in action on Friday Feb. 18 and Saturday Feb. 19 when the teams return to Houston to compete in the Southland Conference Indoor Championships. The meet will take place at the Bill Yeoman Field House on the University of Houston campus.
