
Ladyjacks' Burton Receives Preseason Honor

PLANO, Texas - Senior middle blocker Brittany Burton (Livingston, Texas) earned league recognition being named preseason first-team All-Southland Conference announced SLC officials Tuesday afternoon. Burton is one of three Ladyjacks that earned all-conference honors last season. Burton is coming off a junior season that saw her earn first-team all-conference honors after leading the Ladyjacks and being among the league leaders in kills, attack percentage and total blocks. Burton was also a three-time SLC Offensive Player of the Week in 2003. She enters her final year among the school's all-time leaders in block solos, block assists and is only 38 kills shy of becoming the 11th Ladyjack to record 1,000 career kills. The Ladyjacks return eight letterwinners and all seven starters from last year's 19-13 team that finished second in the SLC standings. SFA will open up the 2004 season Wednesday Sept. 1, in Ruston, La., against Louisiana Tech. -SFA-
