NACOGDOCHES - Ongoing construction projects and safety concerns have forced the temporary closure of Homer Bryce Stadium for a period of time beginning Friday, July 9. The stadium will be closed from 6:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. weekdays and will remain closed on the weekends.
"Due to safety concerns and the construction projects underway in the stadium, we will close the stadium during the overnight period and on weekends for the next several weeks. Once the turf replacement and construction projects in the stadium are completed, we will re-open the stadium during these times," said SFA Director of Athletics Steve McCarty. "We know that this will be an inconvenience for many in the community who use the stadium concourse and track for walking and running, but we hope it will be only a short period of time in which we have to close the stadium."
Crews are nearing completion on the installation of the new Momentum51 artificial surface in the stadium and have targeted a completion date of early August. SFA opens the football season on the new surface Sept. 2 against Henderson State.
All gates will be locked nightly at 6:00 p.m. and re-opened each weekday morning at 6:00 a.m. for the duration of the construction project.
