NACOGDOCHES - The Stephen F. Austin Ladyjack basketball team goes in search of its second and third consecutive victories, coming off an impressive 93-71 thumping of Nicholls State Saturday evening. SFA will travel to Beaumont, Texas, Thursday to take on Lamar. The game against the Lady Cardinals is scheduled to tip-off at 7 p.m., from the Montagne Center. The Ladyjacks will be back in action Saturday afternoon when they travel to Huntsville, Texas, to take on rival Sam Houston State. The game against the Bearkats is slated to get under way at 4 p.m.
SFA vs. the Lady Cardinals: The Ladyjacks are 34-2 (.944) all-time against Lamar. The Ladyjacks have won the last nine meetings between the two teams. SFA recorded a 65-42 victory over the Lady Cardinals last season in Beaumont, Texas.
SFA vs. the Bearkats: The Ladyjacks are 52-4 (.929) all-time against rival Sam Houston State. The Ladyjacks have won eight of the last nine meetings between the two teams, but the Bearkats defeated SFA, 71-61, earlier this season in Nacogdoches. SFA recorded a 73-55 victory against the Bearkats last season in Huntsville.
Tradition of Winning: The SFA Ladyjack basketball program has been one of the most dominant in women's basketball history. The Ladyjacks are among the nation's all-time top 10 with 735 wins. The Ladyjacks are also among the all-time top 10 with a .740 winning percentage (735-258).
Tradition of Winning in the SLC: As dominant as SFA has been nationally, they have been just as dominant in the Southland Conference. The Ladyjacks are the conference's most dominant team, compiling a 255-31 (.892) all-time record. SFA has won 14 of a possible 16 SLC tournament titles and 13 regular-season titles. SFA has also recorded four undefeated seasons in league play and has had 36 players named All-SLC.
Riley vs. the SLC: SFA head basketball coach Lee Ann Riley is in her third season with the Ladyjacks. During that span, Riley has coached her troops to a 40-12 (.769) mark in Southland Conference games.
Looking Ahead ... The Ladyjacks return to action Tuesday Mar. 2nd, when they host Northwestern State. The game against the Lady Demons is slated to begin at 8:15 p.m., in the William R. Johnson Coliseum. SFA will then travel to San Marcos, Texas, for the season finale against Texas State. The game against the Bobcats is scheduled to tip-off at 5:30 p.m., at Strahan Coliseum.
