
First Round Underway At Crown Classic

LUFKIN, Texas -- Nine teams teed off this morning under misty, overcast skies for 36-holes of play at the Southern Chrysler-Crown Classic at Lufkin's Crown Colony Country Club. The event, hosted by Stephen F. Austin, will conclude with 18-holes of play Tuesday.
Included in this year's field are SFA, Sam Houston, Rice, Texas State, Southwestern, UT-Pan American, UM-Kansas City, Centenary and McNeese State.
Last year's defending champion, UT-San Antonio, did not return to defend its team title.
The 'Jacks enter the event coming off a first place finish at the Fred Marx/ULM Invitational two weeks ago and finished second to UT-San Antonio a year ago at the Crown Classic.
Trevor Sauntry, Brian Grossman, Jeremy Ice, Dustin Byrd and Chad Spencer will compete as the five man team for the 'Jacks at the tournament with Spencer Hutton and James McLeod competing as medalists.
