
SFA Track & Field Hosts Dogwood Invitational

NACOGDOCHES - The Stephen F. Austin men and women's track and field team will host the Dogwood Invitational Saturday at Fletcher Garner Track. The meet will consist of 10 teams including Louisiana Tech, Paul Quinn College, South Plains College, Texas A&M-Commerce, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, Texas-Pan American as well as Southland Conference foes Lamar, Northwestern State and Sam Houston State. The meet is slated to begin at 10:30 a.m., with the men and women's hammer throw. The track events get underway at 5 p.m., with the men and women's 4X100-meter relay.
Ladyjacks in the League: Freshman Jamie Washington is third in the 100-meters with her time of 12.08. Sophomore Jocelyn Stevens is currently fourth in the league in the 100-meter hurdles (14.42) and the high jump (5-5.00), while leading the SLC in the 400-meter hurdles (1:01.30). Senior Bonnie McHan is third in the 400-meter hurdles with time of 1:03.72. Senior Jessica Claiborne is fourth in the SLC in the 200-meter dash (24.77), long jump (19-2.50) and triple jump (40-7.00). Sophomore Ana Rodriguez is tops in the conference in the 5,000 meters posting a time of 17:14.67. Sophomore Hollie Counts is fifth in the 10,000 meters with a time of 40:58.87. Freshman Kasie Query is third in the league in the pole vault clearing a height of 12-0.00 and second in the javelin (152-08). Sophomore Shametra Boykins is currently second in the triple jump with a mark of 41-7.75. Senior Destine Rawls leads the shot put with her toss of 47-3.75, just barely ahead of Blake Gordon (47-3.50). Gordon is currently leading the league in the discus with her throw of 151-05, while Rawls is fourth (147-07). Freshman Sarah Emerson is currently fifth in the javelin with her throw of 140-02. Senior Tracy Schupp is second in the heptathlon with 4,851 points. Schupp is just ahead of teammates Lindsey Bryson (4,674) and Crystal Chang (4,195).
Lumberjacks in the League: Junior Mike Thompson is currently atop the league standings in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with his time of 9:04.17. Freshman Daniel Williams is fifth in the steeplechase (9:50.70). Junior Nathan Flores is currently second in the 5,000 meters (14:45.84). Flores is just ahead of teammates Justin Meier (14:55.85) and Julian Acuna (15:04.02). Acuna is first in the 10,000 meters with his time of 31:23.10. Freshman Marc Farris is fifth in the league in the 10,000 meters with a time of 32:37.07.
Up Next ... The SFA track and field teams hit the road Saturday April 19th when they will be competing at the TCU Invitational in Fort Worth, Texas and the Mt. SAC Relays in Walnut, Calif.
