The Fifth Annual Division I-AA Athletics Directors Association Academic All-Star Team was announced during ceremonies at the I-AA national championship football game just before Christmas, in Chattanooga, Tennessee.
43 student-athletes were named to the team, selected from a list of 115 nominees from I-AA football playing insitutions across the nation.
David Phillips, a 6-5, 305 pound junior offensive lineman from Kemp, was the lone representative from SFA to be named to the squad. He joins Hadley Prince from McNeese State as the only two student-athletes from Southland Conference schools on the team.
Phillips was named to the Southland Conference All-Academic Team in early December.
Each member of the I-AA AD's All Star Team was required to carry a minimum of a 3.20 GPA in undergraduate study and must have been a starter or key reserve during the 2002 season.
