
Ballard Competes At The NCAA Championship

FAYETTEVILLE, Arkansas -- Stephen F. Austin State University junior pole vaulter Misty Ballard (Carlsbad, NM) continued her success this season with a ninth place finish at the NCAA Championship in Fayetteville, Arkansas March 9-10.
Ballard clinched the ninth place position with a vault of 13-01.50 (4.00M). The winning mark came from Thorey Elisdottir from Georgia with a vault of 14-09.50 (4.51M).
Ballard's seasonal best mark came February 16-17 at the Southland Conference Indoor Championship in Houston. She vaulted 13-05.25 (4.10M). This was an SFA school record, Southland Conference All-Time vaulting record, Southland Conference Championship record, NCAA automatic qualifying mark and a USA National qualifying mark.
Ballard is now looking to the outdoor season for more competition and a chance to improve even more. The first outdoor meet for the SFA track and field team will be March 15-16 in College Station at the College Station Multis/Relays.
