
WOMEN'S SOCCER TIES IN NACOGDOCHES

NACOGDOCHES, Texas-- The Stephen F. Austin Ladyjack soccer team battled Dallas Baptist University to a 1-1 tie in each team's season opener at Homer Bryce Stadium.
Ladyjack freshman, Nicole Horn, was the first to score defeating Dallas Baptist's goalie, Shannon Diehl at 34:03 in the first half. Horn was assisted by junior Lotta Westerberg.
Dallas Baptist tied the game in the second half when Erin Turner edged the ball past Heather Matchette. Turner was assisted by Lindsey Velnosky and Sherry Baylor.
Matchette, a freshman from Rio Linda, California, played 90 minutes with one goal against her and six saves. This was Matchette's first game as a Ladyjack.
In total shots, SFA had 18 and Dallas Baptist followed with 15. Leading the Ladyjacks in shots was Horn with six shots and three shots on goal. Other shots were taken by Anna Steed (three shots/three shots on goal), Jessica Negron (three shots/one shot on goal) and Kimberly Elger (three shots/2 shots on goal).
The Ladyjacks will be back in action on Wednesday, August 30th at 7:00 P.M. in Homer Bryce Stadium. Admission is free.
