NACOGDOCHES, Texas -- The Stephen F. Austin State University Ladyjack Basketball team has been ranked 27 in a poll compiled by the staff at WOMENSCOLLEGEHOOPS.COM. This poll highlights performances given by teams during post season tournament play during the 1999-2000 season.
The Ladyjacks finished the 1999-2000 season 28-4 overall and 17-1 in conference play as the Southland Conference Champions. At the 2000 NCAA Eastern Sub-Regional Tournament in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, the number eleven seeded Ladyjacks defeated the number six seeded Xavier 73-72. This left the Ladyjacks facing the number three seeded Louisiana State University Lady Tigers, where they were only defeated 57-45.
Royce Chadwick has led the Ladyjacks to four regular season titles and five tournament titles in six seasons in the Southland Conference. Chadwick has also made the NCAA Tournament 1995-2000, with one of those trips being to the "Sweet Sixteen" in 1996.
The Ladyjacks have made fifteen NCAA Tournament appearances (1982, 83, 88, 89, 90, 91, 92, 93, 94, 95, 96, 97, 98, 99, 00). Thirteen of those trips have been consecutive. At the NCAA Tournament the Ladyjacks have a record of eleven wins, sixteen losses and four byes. The Ladyjacks have been to the "Sweet Sixteen" on five different occasions (1990, 91, 92, 93, 96).
