Katy, Texas, native returns to his home state after two years at the Air Force Academy
NACOGDOCHES, Texas - In an announcement made Monday, the Stephen F. Austin Department of Athletics named Tyler Boone its Director of Athletic Development. Boone returns to his home state following a two-year term as the athletic development coordinator at the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colo.
"Tyler is a rising star in our business," said SFA Senior Associate Athletic Director John Branch. "He comes highly recommended and we are very excited to have him join our external staff."
At Air Force, Boone was an instrumental part of boosting the Falcons' annual fund by 150% over a period of one year. The institution's fund increased from $800,000 at the beginning of 2016 to $2 million by the end of the year.
Much of the legwork for the impressive increase took place with Boone working behind the scenes to target new potential donors while maintaining and enhancing the existing relationships between various fund donors, all of whom gave anywhere from $100 to $10,000 to the Falcons' fund.
Other steps Boone took to increase the bottom line of the Falcons' annual fund included the creation and overseeing of numerous alumni and parent events and the rollout of several fundraising campaigns. Those incentivized campaigns were directed at both new and renewing season ticket holders.
A 2015 graduate of The Ohio State University, Boone spent the 2014-15 year as an IMG sports marketing property assistant for the Buckeyes. In that role, he helped market the Buckeye brand at various Ohio State events both in Columbus and elsewhere around the nation.
Boone got his start in fundraising and development as a group ticket sales intern with the Columbus Crew FC as an undergrad in 2012. He served as one of the crew's sales managers that targeted the Ohio State student populace as potential ticket buyers.
A native of Katy, Texas, Boone obtained his master's degree in sports administration from the University of Northern Colorado in May of 2017. He is engaged to his fiancé, Heidi.
